Elected Membership:
The path to becoming an Elected Member in the NJWCS begins
with having paintings accepted in two Annual Open Juried Exhibitions.
The jury of selection selects prospective candidates from
the paintings accepted for the exhibition, which they feel
conform to the standards of the Society. The selected candidates
are invited to submit five of their best watercolors for a
juried membership decision by the NJWCS Board.*
Prospective Elected Members must be residents
of New Jersey, but may retain membership if they move out-of-state
after being elected. Elected Members pay dues annually and
receive all benefits of membership including voting privileges,
exhibiting in Elected Members Exhibitions and citing Elected
Member status on a resume. Dues are $30.00 payable January
1 each year.
*Each year the Society's Elected
Members vote to select the Jurors of Selection for the Annual
Open Exhibition. After the show is hung, each member of the
Jury of Selection returns to consider paintings by Associate
members and non-members in the exhibition. They individually
choose these artists to consider for membership and assign
them a point score. The artist with the highest scores are
each asked to submit five paintings at a Board Meeting, where
they are voted on in secret ballot.
*An invitation to be considered
for Elected Membership may be extended to an artist who is
a New Jersey resident and is in the current Open Juried Exhibition
plus one other open show in the last 10 years.

Associate Membership:
Associate membership is open to anyone interested in the purposes
and activities of the NJWCS. Associate members pay dues annually,
but do not have voting privileges. The may exhibit in an Annual
Associate members Exhibition and enter the Open Juried Exhibition
at the reduced member's fee. Associate Members may serve on
committees and are invited to attend all openings, receptions
and the Annual Dinner. They receive the newsletter, a copy
of the catalog of the Open Juried exhibition and may cite
Associate Member status on a resume. Dues are $30.00 payable
January 1 each year.
