Elected Membership: The path to becoming an Elected Member in the NJWCS begins with acceptance into two Annual Open Juried Exhibits. The process is as follows:
Each year, the Society's Elected Members vote to choose the Jurors of Selection for the Annual Open Exhibition. The primary function of the Jury is to decide which paintings are accepted into the Open Exhibit. But additionally, after the show is hung, the Jury returns to review paintings by Associate members and nonmembers who have been accepted into at least two Open Exhibits. Working individually, the Jury Members assign each eligible work a point score reflecting conformity to the Society’s standards. An invitation to be considered for Elected Membership is extended to those Associate and nonmembers receiving the highest scores. The selected candidates are invited to submit five of their best watercolors for a review for Elected Membership by the NJWCS Board, voting in secret ballot.
Prospective Elected Members must be residents of New Jersey, but may retain membership if they move out-of-state after being elected. Elected Members pay dues annually and receive all benefits of membership including voting privileges, exhibiting in Elected Members Exhibitions and citing Elected Member status on a resume. Dues are $35.00 payable January 1st each year.

Associate Membership:
Associate membership is open to anyone interested in the purposes
and activities of the NJWCS. Associate members pay dues annually,
but do not have voting privileges. The may exhibit in an Annual
Associate members Exhibition and enter the Open Juried Exhibition
at the reduced member's fee. Associate Members may serve on
committees and are invited to attend all openings, receptions
and the Annual Dinner. They receive the newsletter, a copy
of the catalog of the Open Juried exhibition and may cite
Associate Member status on a resume. Dues are $35.00 payable
January 1 each year.
